Sadly, this story is so familiar to me as it happens on a daily basis. As an ACS foster parent, I frequently encounter both dogs and cats who are victims of horrendous abuse and neglect. One of my last foster puppies had hot oil poured over her little body. There are always dozens of loving animals at ACS that endure mistreatment and torture by humans. The citizens of San Antonio need to demand tougher cruelty laws and demand these laws be enforced. Until then, I encourage individuals to consider fostering or adopting from ACS or other rescue groups.

Lazlo we know you are a SORRY individual so whats the point.

Proper punishment in this case would be to tape this kid's mouth shut and toss him off the top of the Hemisfair Tower. That would be a great way to save the state money because this kid will end up being a murder one day!

Oh my GOD what is wrong with you people?! How have NONE of you seen the direct relationship between the crime this poor dog is a victim of, and the CRIME of illegal immigrants in our country!? This dog is the first animal victim of illegal immigration! I bet you all $20 that the child who committed this crime was an illegal!! Or, maybe it was something Obama did. Where's the fire in this comment section? It fails to deliver...

Oh and sorry for not letting my little fluffy sit in my lap with a red bow while I AM DRIVING AND SWERVING ALL OVER THE PLACE>....

I am sorry for thinking more of humans than dogs. I should be ashamed...I am very sorry for thinking dogs are dogs. I am sorry for not dressing them up in sweaters to take FAMILY pictures...I am sorry for not referring to them as the KIDS.. I am sorry for not following them around with little baggies and letting them lead the way. I am sorry for not giving them kissies or saying "good doggie doggie... I am sorry for not being an absolute servant of the canine... I just raise children and give them love instead...MY BAD

For those who do not own pets - please don't judge people who are pet owners - if you don't have anything nice to say about any kind of animal that is hurt/abused/neglected/and so on than please keep your comments/opinions to yourself...Thank you

Observer, I think you misread Bravo-51's comments. He/she seems to be one of the good ones. But Lazlo is just a judgemental jerk. For some reason, people who don't have dogs are always so judgemental towards people that do. It's just ignorance, that's all. Having a pet IS like having a child. Yes, if it were to come down to a decision between a human life and an animal's life, the human would come first (even though some people don't deserve it.) But pets need our care. And you can't tell me that pets don't "feel" because they do. Find a dog that has been abused and see how scared of you he is.... he remembers what some @$$ like Lazlo has done to him. This kid needs to be found and punished before he thinks that this is OK. Throw Lazlo in the slammer with him while you're at it.

Apparently this is BIG NEWS because it has had more postings than any other event has had since OBAMA was elected. It does not take a degree to see that this is big news. THOSE WHO ARE IN DENIAL should be ignored. They are like kids seeking attention .....just ignore them....

Yes Veritas we are all pathetic and you are brilliant. You may now remove yourself from this posting. Per Webster's~Arrogance= an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions. You have clearly been overbearing in stating your opinion. (We are pathetic, as if you know ANYTHING). You have also been presumptuous in assuming that because we are moved by this story that we cannot at the same time be moved by other (apparently more important to you) news stories.

Veritas - IF THE STORY IS NOT NEWSWORTHY STOP COMMENTING ON WHAT OTHERS SAY AND STOP READING ALL THE COMMENTS. ITS OBVIOUS YOU DO NOT HAVE A LIFE IF YOU KEEP HAVING TO DEFEND YOUR STUPID LOGICAL AND ETHICAL SELF. YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO GET A LIFE AND GET LA*D.

Obviously some people do not understand the point in this story. As with Human Beings-we die on a daily basis and if we die naturally, then of course its not going to be news, however if we are murdered or foul play is involved it is considered news. Same thing with a dog-they die daily whether run over, police shoot them, naturally or some kid tortures it to death. The point is the "crime" was detected by a witness and therefore regardless of whether it is "just a dog", the point is a citizen did the right thing by confronting the situation and alerting proper authorities. This is what SHOULD be done. Instead of jamming that triple meat burger in your mouth and fighting with others to serve JUST yourself, this person took it upon herself NOT to be selfish. So stop being selfish people because that dog could be someones kid-and like YOUR kid, they could be in a ditch taped up and would that be news? You would cry so.

Maxwell, I agree with you that San Antonians should come together and help. I have rescued many dogs and let me tell you that the lastest dog that I rescued in April was helped by SPAYSA. There are so many good people in San Antonio ready to help out. Cathy McGowan was one of them. We need more foster homes because there are so many strays out there and one person can't do it all. Thanks to all those kind people out there.

I saw 3 dead kittens on Perrin Beitel this past weekend. They had obviously been tossed out of a car.

Oh my God! What is going on in this city where we have no regard for the lives of our animals? These animals have feelings just like humans do! They were put on this earth to be cared for by us. They are not here to be abused by us. I cannot believe that people think animals have no feelings or emotions or a sense of being. I love my dogs and cannot fathom anyone doing anything like this. It is outrageous and this person whether a juvenile or not should be punished severely. In these economic times I have seen many a stray dog - no doubt the owners have left them to fend for themselves in the streets. We need to find more ways to help people so they will not do this. Please San Antonio let us come together to do this! Find it in your heart to help these helpless creatures. They need our help, love and support. I cannot believe that anyone would leave a negative comment. How can you not love animals - how can you not have compassion for them? They are living, breathing, full of feelings just like humans. I pray for all these animals and I pray for all who think this is just newsworthy. There are compassionate people out there like Mrs. Ybarra. God Bless her for coming to this helpless dogs rescue. Find some love and compassionate in your hearts San Antonio !!!!!!

Bray~ If you throw yourself off a bridge, I will get you and put you in the State facility where you will receive all the care and attention it would require. This dog did not throw himself off a bridge, he was taped up with duct tape by a jacka*s punk and thrown down an embankment. If you do throw yourself off the bridge, tape your mouth with duct tape, so we dont hear your screams....idiot.
Bray8:00 AM
You reckon if I threw myself off a bridge, I would receive equal treatment?

Time Warner, Humane Society team for 'Paws on Demand'

They say it takes a village to raise a child. You could also say it takes a village - or at least plenty of compassionate people working together - to save orphaned pets. And that's where the folks at Time Warner Cable come in.
