Walking the Dog @ Government Canyon

Come out and join the San Antonio Big Dawgs for a casual paced hike on Lytle’s Loop at Government Canyon State Natural Area. This trail is not hilly or challenging. You can expect to do 5 miles. NO TURNING BACK, unless you really have to. We do not typically stop or take a break. If you are just beginning to hike, the pace of this group will most likely be okay for you. Wear good sturdy shoes. Please bring plenty of water and something to eat for energy.

Government Canyon State Natural Area is approximately 8,624-acre area in Bexar County, just outside San Antonio.

Where to Meet: 8:45 am at the water tower located at the Visitor’s Center in the park.

What to bring: Good hiking shoes / boots and more water than you think - no water is available on the trail.

Park admission is $6 per person 13 and older – or get an entire carload in for free with a TX Parks Pass. Children 12 and under are free.

DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH AND SHOULD REMAIN ON LEASH DURING HIKE.
